1. A. County hopes to spend
less on Grace, more on services
C. This article discussed rerouting a large portion of money used for helping
a homeless people in general especially a homeless camp ground shelter called
dignity village where over hundred people have tents and another hundred plus
stay in shelters. The goal is to use the money to help with more services that
help homeless people such as emergency shelters and rapid rehousing, focusing
on people who have become homeless while living here, not just by people from
all surrounding counties who have a track record of staying homeless.
D. The problem of this story is that people who are functioning citizens
are becoming homeless while living here but because so much funding goes random
homeless people who are have more of a chance of remaining homeless, they are
not able to recover as quickly. People who are just homeless but had a job and
functioned well are easier to get back on their feet, then there will be more resources
for people who are homeless for years.
E. The two biggest people who have this problem are the people who just
need help getting back on their feet after a major event, who don’t receive the
attention they need because someone who has embraced the lifestyle for many
years is getting similar attention. The second group of people with this problem
are the citizens of Gainesville who must deal with homeless people throughout the
week.
2. A. Gainesville
readies for final vote on plastic bag ban
C. This
article discussed limiting the use of plastic disposable bags in Gainesville.
It cuts the use of plastic bags by a decent amount but there are tons of
plastic bags that would not be banned for certain retailers, newspaper bags,
and smaller things like produce bags.
D. The
problem presented in the story is that Santa Fe and University of Florida
Students as well as other ecofriendly citizens would like to see less plastic
bags used to aid the massive amount of nature that surrounds us.
E. Animals
and citizens who are tired of seeing plastic bags that do not decompose flood water
and the sides of roads. The production of this plastic also is an issue for
humans concerned about inhaling tainted oxygen.
3. A. Two attacks: Dog
mauled to death, boy bitten
C. A
large dog escaped while a woman was taking her trash out. That dog got a hold
of a small pug and killed before the owner of the pug, who was also bitten on
the hands, was able to break the attack up. The other attack was on a small 9
year old buy. Both dogs who attacked were euthanized.
D. The
problem is that large dogs are not properly maintained and that there is no way
to stop an attack from a large dog. In this case it was an old lady walking her
dog and then a child who could not do much to prevent the surprise attack.
E.
People with small docile animals have this problem or with small animals. Also
wandering citizens who could be attacked at any moment if a loose rabid dog
showed up.
4. A. Sheriff: Need
for 911 operators continues
C. This
article discussed the need for 911 operators. They are desperate for people in
the area to become a 911 operator due to the fact that they are the ones who transfer
information to the police or fire fighters.
D. The
problem is that there is a lack people willing to be trained and work the high
stress shifts, maybe there is opportunity marketing to college students as a
part time job.
E. The people
experiencing this problem is the sheriffs office and the people affected are
the citizens of the city. If you are in an emergency but there are numerous phone
calls flooding in without enough staff.
There would be an issue.

A. Man
faces multiple charges after Silver Springs vehicle stolen
C. This was a news article about a man who stole a vehicle
from a house. He was arrested when spotted walking down the side of the road.
D. The problem is that people either forget to lock
their doors or don’t keep their keys in a safe space. Also, an out of the box
problem is that once your car is stolen you cannot really stop it from moving remotely.
E. People who own vehicles face this problem.
