14A Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
Every Monday I write a today list that I want to complete by the end of the week. On this list I prioritize ENT because before starting any assignment I am sure that I began by having a creative and open mind so my ideas can fly. I can not have this mindset if I am emotionally drained from accounting or studying terms in management. I also am sure to have my posts completed early as I can so I can give people the chance to provide feedback.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
A moment I have felt like giving up when I realized for my dream business idea to come true it would require the government to pass laws about the recreational use of Marijuana that will eventually happen but not for another 10 years. This realization came when reflecting on an assignment. With this in mind it would be a waste of time to pressure something of this nature. The reason it hit so deep was because I do not want to work in some cubical farm making tons of money for people I have never really met. I want to work for myself and give something I help make to the people. I have people in my hometown counting on me to hopefully one day be successful so they can work for me. With such support I do not want to let them down. The second time is when I really was reminded on hard it is to come up with original ideas that people in my generation would actually want to mind. Reading other peoples post I have seen a lot of good ideas that I wish would just smack me across the face randomly when I am walking down the street.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
Three tips I would offer a student about fostering a skills that support tenacity is start by writing down a list of things yo want to complete for the day or the week. I love checking thins off my to do list and gives me a sense of accomplishment. Be sure to give yourself one or two confidence building takes such as the dishes or making your bed just to get things rolling with an easy victory. Another tip I would give you is to do things early. Online classes are great because they are at your own pace which means you can attack the class and get assignments done early. Finally I would suggest is pretending that your are creating possible ideas that are seriously going to come to life or be pitched to a circle of people in a large corporation. This will allow your to to give more effort for work and really notice deadlines.

  1. Hi Chris,
I found your halfway reflection interesting especially as you described a time when you felt like giving up. I also felt extremely discouraged during the creation of my product idea just as you felt like giving up on your dream business idea. However, I agree that by completing assignments on time will give you confidence. By completing small tasks or even assignments within this course, we are better able to build our knowledge in order to complete our dream goal. Overall, great reflection and good luck with the rest of the course!

  2. Hi Chris,
I really enjoyed reading your halfway reflection. I thought it was interesting how you write a to-do list at the beginning of the week so you know what you have to accomplish. I do this as well and just do assignments based on which ones are due first. However, I like how you decide to do entrepreneurship assignments first as that's when you have more motivation and an open mind. I might take that into consideration as I have other classes that are more difficult and more demanding. Great job on your reflection!
