9A Testing the Hypothesis
Hello everyone, thank you for coming
to my blog today. Today I will be summarizing the results from the second round
of interviewing and the findings I found about my product. One the things that
I realized speaking to people the product, which is having your own small indoor
garden with watering systems/light, is something that take effort. Although the
effort required to maintain this vegetable garden would not be very high, our
generation is one complains that the food that they ordered to their apartments
could not be walked up to their floor and then to their door. This is not a cynical
view saying that people of this era are lazy but just an acknowledgement that
we live an on the go life style and manage what very little time we have
without waste. With that said, this product may not lead to a massive thriving
business or corporation but could make it as a small maneuverable business that
caters to a certain group of peoples wants.
I discovered that the people who would
not be the typical consumer could people who are students and completely has no
time. As an example, is one of my interviewees in medical school said that she
worked a 14 hour shift at the hospital overnight and literally cannot take on any
other responsibility. Another interviewee said she goes back to her home town almost
every weekend and would not be around enough to check on the system. The reality
is that this product is meant for adults with free time because like most other
products, college kids aren’t usually the best target audience.
This meant for people looking to spruce their
house up or who live in a large city with no garden. American society is on the
trend of thinking about where their food comes, how it has been genetically modified,
who has been abused to grow it, or the death of the animals they eat so the
idea of a self-sustaining garden to grow your own vegetables might be great for
all one day, but for now, it is for the few. I am a habitual eater of meat and
fast food but I enjoy growing and building myself and everything around me.
