24A-Venture Concept

The reason that I believe that customers will switch to my product is because I believe that this a need that most people do not know that they need. I think it will not be a challenge of getting them to switch but the mission of making them aware that they need this product. The competitors include organizations that build large hydroponic gardens for communities that are lower tech but require lots of space while other companies have more technology based and expensive systems that are priced over 1,000 dollars and require special routine to take care of. I plan to create something in the middle of this, that is not so industrial while also maintaining that simple vibe. I plan to organize my business with a pyramid with me at the top, the next level handling marketing, finances, and technology, and the lowest level being assembly, delivery, and installation. This is when I am doing pretty good and growing at a steady rate, before then I will be on the ground doing all the work I can to keep cost low and make sure everything is being done properly.  Image result for pyramid of management
The opportunity I have chosen to follow is the chance to provide people wit the product of a hydroponics garden that will allow my customers to have a fully functioning garden ran out of their closet, living room, basement, kitchen, or any other dark or well-lit place. I hope that this garden will help people to eat healthier, reduce the cost of vegetables they purchase, add an element of art into their homes, support the act to get food from a sustainable source, and fun interactive hobby to pursue.

The opportunity I have chosen addresses the two categories who needs the need and the nature of the need. To begin, the changes in environment that create this opportunity is the fact the population growing larger and larger and the air and water is growing more polluted, and this will cause the price of food to rise for it will be difficult in the future to get fresh plants. Also, society is becoming more socially aware about the practices of breeding livestock in warehouses where chickens are pumped with steroids and fat until their legs break beneath them which causes them to rest in their feces until they are slaughtered or die right there. Same goes for dirty fish hatcheries where fish swim in bat until selected to be killed. Also, there are many studies showing the negative effects of eating dead flesh. I am not a vegetarian, but I am like most humans, I will ignore what is best for society and the environment because I love chicken nuggets drenched in barbecue sauce. I believe that these things will cause more people to consume more vegetables leading to a larger customer audience for my product.

My market is definitely for everyone who has enough money to have this installed and really likes vegetables. Vegetarians, vegans, people appreciate technology, and those who enjoy gardening. That can apply to young trendy people or older individuals who cannot leave their house. It is hard to say that this need is being satisfied by group of customers, but hydroponic gardens do exist in certain communities, businesses, and a smaller population of individuals who can afford a large plot of land or an expensive high maintenance machine. It is hard to say that any customer is loyal to a certain company because most people are not even aware that something like this could even be a possibility.

I believe that that this opportunity could be quite large if I can create an inexpensive way and easy to use product that would require minimum effort to install. People don’t mind making a investment that is not to risky or large and once they hear the idea they could grow food underground in their bunker or above ground in their home they will be very intrigued. I think that this window of opportunity will only get larger as more and more people are born with less and less land for farming. I believe that this will end causing people to try more abstract ways to get their hands on food.

I would to sell these hydroponic gardens in various sizes started at 50 dollars and ranging to 300 with one capable of feeding a whole family. I plan to assemble them a for a small fraction of that amount. I will also sell seed and fertilizers/solutions to purchase separately to support the performance of their garden. I also plan to include a colorful pamphlet with details about different techniques for different plant as far as water or the temperature where you plan to keep your garden. I also will offer for a separate fee to come and set up the garden or sell a fully-grown one for those who are very impatient. I plan to sell this product fully online and charge those who or more than an hour drive away from headquarters. I think this would allow me to reach more people until I can figure a way to sell something like this on amazon if it as easy, I think it will be to assemble. I plan to make it an eye appealing product with wood covered in epoxy so that it cannot catch fire with such exposure to heat lamps.

  1. Hi Christopher,
I really enjoyed reading your venture concept post as you gave a lot of really helpful and important insight on your business. I also really liked how you included lots of detail, such as exact costs that you estimate your business charging customers. I also thought it was useful that you added pictures, which is something I have not thought to do. This is especially important when trying to grab the attention of potential buyers. Overall, wonderful job, I think your business venture has a lot of potential.

  2. Hey Chris,
You did a great job at explaining your service and exactly how you would like to go about it. The specific details and numbers help legitimize your opportunity so much more. Businesses like things quantified, and you did exactly that. I'm really impressed at how well you were able to attract attention and keep it throughout the whole explanation and plan for your idea, great job!
